Bloc Activity

 

JIDA's activities include center activities and block activities conducted in each region.

The center's activities are centered on national or external projects that lead to the dissemination of industrial design, centered on six public interest projects.

The activities of each block also aim to improve industrial design in each region and revitalize the community through seminars, workshops, and cooperation with relevant local organizations.

Led by the Secretary General, the full-time staff is in charge of JIDA's administrative operations and plays an important role as a liaison to the outside world. It also plays an important role as a liaison to the outside world. The office manages the association as a whole, serves as a liaison for external relations and public relations, and provides a forum for communication among JIDA members. The JIDA Design Museum in AXIS (JIDA Gallery) is also used as a gallery space for members.

 

Eastern Bloc

The block consists of members from the Kanto Koshinetsu region and eastward, and more than half of the current JIDA members belong to the following committees and study groups. The main committees and study groups are: Management Liaison Committee, In-House Committee, In-House Women Designers Study Group, EDO Culture Study Group, Student Friends Liaison Group nicknamed JJ (JIDA Junior), Environment Committee, Education Study Group, Aging and Welfare Committee, Computer Design Study Group, JILDA: JIDA Women Members' Group, Information Committee, Design Committee, Standard Committee, Life Design Committee, and Design Committee. The committees include: the Assistant Committee, the Standards Committee, the Design Life Committee, the Design Museum Committee, the 21st Century Committee, the Free Time Club, the Freelance Committee, and the Writing Design Study Group.

Chubu Block

It is composed of members active in five prefectures in the Tokai region (Aichi, Mie, Gifu, Shizuoka, and Nagano). In the Chubu block, where there are many manufacturing industries, industrial designers active in a wide variety of fields are registered, and the following activities have recently been actively carried out. As an example, New Year's Party & Design Lecture, General Meeting & Events, "Ubiquitous Life" Dream Idea Competition, "Ubiquitous Life" Exhibition, Corporate Forum Sectional Meeting, Student Exchange Meeting, Student Presentation, Graduation Works Exhibition/Visit, Public Relations Activities, etc.

Hokuriku Bloc

The members are concentrated in a small area within a 50 km radius of Fukui City and Takaoka City in the three Hokuriku prefectures (Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui). The members consist of faculty members and researchers from universities and other educational institutions and public institutions, as well as freelance designers, and many of them are involved in design education. The work of the freelance designers is not limited to product design, but also includes not only graphic design, but also consulting and design instruction, reflecting the individuality of each member.

Kansai Bloc

This block is developing activities that utilize the advantages of local color in response to global design trends. The regional characteristics of this block are the concentration of members in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area, which allows us to take advantage of this geographical advantage to conduct design activities in a timely manner. We also hold events such as design workshops for design students and children to nurture the next generation of young designers.

West Japan Bloc

Members are scattered in a very low density over a wide area of 17 prefectures spanning Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. In the Chugoku region, the membership is a balance of in-house, freelance, and educational members, while in the Kyushu region, most members are active freelancers. Members are active in a variety of fields, including small and medium-sized local companies, venture companies, the woodworking furniture industry, companies related to welfare, the craft industry as a local industry, and cooperation in government promotion projects.
