Member・Admission guide

There are 2 types of membership; full membership and supporting membership. A full member enjoys the right to vote, elect executives (president and auditor), and run for such positions. A supporting member does not have such rights.

Provision of various information such as a free subscription of the informational member magazine. In addition members enjoy discounts on design materials, admissions to special events, hotels and use of JIDA Gallery. A sole proprietor will further be eligible to join the Union of Artists National Health Insurance plan with premium reductions depending on family composition.

Full membership

Joining fee - \30,000, annual membership ? \36,000

Corporate in-house industrial designers, freelance industrial designers, and individuals involved in industrial design either at design education institutions or design promotional organizations.

• Must have 3 years or more experience in actual related work fields.
• Must be involved in creative, promotional, supervisory or managerial work related to industrial design, in educational or research work related to industrial design, or must have equivalent qualification.
• Must have a recommendation from one full member.
• Applicant will be asked to submit at least one example of a project he/she was involved in, such as the actual work, a record of achievements, or essay.

Supporting member

No joining fee, annual membership - \50,000 per unit (must be 2 units or more)

Corporations, organizations or individuals that are related to industrial design, approve and cooperate in JIDA’s objectives and projects.

Friends of the association is a system for non-member industrial designers and the general public including students who are interested in the JIDA activities.

Includes participation in committees and research groups, provision of various information including a free subscription to the member info magazine, and friend’s discount for participating in various events as well as the use of the JIDA Gallery.

Friends of the association

No joining fee, annual membership - \12,000

Industrial designers who have less than 3-year actual experience and individuals who are interested in industrial design.

Student member

No joining fee, annual membership ? \6,000

Individuals such as students majoring in design.

All applicants are subject to screening by the board of directors. Since there are different forms for each type of membership ? full member, supporting member, friends of the association and student member ? please request the form from our administration office. Applicants of the Friends of the association may also apply through E-mail.
